It has pale yellow markings, sometimes tinged greenish. The eyes are pale blue, and the pterostigma are orangey-brown. The interpleural stripe (anterior of the metastigma) is a complete curvy black line between the forewing base and midleg. This species is endemic to south-western Europe. It has spread north and east of the Rhine, probably as a result of the creation of artificial habitats. It can be found in all kinds of standing and slow-moving waters, such as gravel and sand pits. The main flight period in the north is May and June. Sightings
