(1/800th sec at f14. © David Hastings) DescriptionFamily: Polyommatinae Wing span: 36 - 38mm The male Amanda's Blue has sky-blue upper surfaces with a dark, diffuse marginal band. The female is brown with orange submarginal lunules on the hindwing. It is widespread through most of E Europe, but sporadic and rare in W Europe. It is found in meadows and grasslands with scrub, roadsides, forest clearings and margins, and sheltered gullies and slopes up to 2000m. There is one generation per year, with an extended emergence from late May to early August. Larvae feed on Vetches (Vicia spp). Sightings
