Description

Family: Crambidae (ABH : 63.018)

Wing span: 22 - 26mm

The fore-wing is evenly curved, dark greyish-brown, finely speckled whiteish, with three white spots in the mid-wing.

It is found in England Wales and Ireland, but absent from most of Scotland.

Habitats are gardens, urban parks, hedgerows, scrub, waste ground and woodland.

The flight period is from May to September in one brood. There may be a second in the south.

Larvae feed on Elder, lilacs, privets, viburnums and Hedge Bindweed.

It is easily disturbed by day, and comes to light.
