Hook-tips & Lutestrings (Drepanidae)
Species
The Drepanidae are divided into two sub-families, the Drepaninae and the Thyatirinae. Moths in Drepaninae have broad wings and slender bodies, like Geometrids. On all but one of these, the tips of the forewings are strongly hooked. They are most frequently encountered in light traps. Superficially, the Thyatirinae resemble noctuid moths, although they are slimmer in build and all hold their wings close to the body at rest.
