(© David Hastings) (1/400th sec at f/11) DescriptionFamily: Crambidae (ABH : 63.028) Wing span: 26 - 34mm The male has a brown or greyish-brown fore-wing with a prominent pale cross-band at about two-thirds, and two brownish dots, usually with a yellow patch between them. The female has a largely yellowish fore-wing, with toothed cross-lines at about one-third and two-thirds. Mainly an immigrant, but it may be resident in the southern half of Britain. Habitats include gardens, rough grassland, field margins and waste ground. The flight period is from June to mid-October in one generation. Larvae feed on Mugwort. Also reported on Hop, Maize and mallows. It comes to light. Earliest UK sighting: 27th June ; Latest UK sighting: 3rd September Sightings
