Description

Family: Crambidae (ABH : 63.033)

Wing span: 22 - 24mm

The fore-wing is pale yellowish-white, darker along the costa, the oval and kidney-shaped markings are yellowish-brown and sometimes faint.

It can be found throughout the British Isles.

Habitats are gardens and allotments, calcareous grassland, hedgerows, field margins, waste ground, etc.

The flight period is from June to September.

Larvae feed on a wide range of herbaceous plants, including Mugworts, plantains, knapweeds, Wild Strawberry and Bramble.

It is easily disturbed during the day, feeds at flowers and comes to light.
