(© David Hastings) (1/200th sec at f/11) DescriptionFamily: Crambidae (ABH : 63.092) Wing span: 22 - 30mm The fore-wing is sandy-yellow or yellowish-brown with a whiteish longitudinal streak, this dividing into 3 or 4 branches that extend along the veins. It is similar to A. tristella, except that the white streak doesn't narrow mid-wing, and the wing tip is square. It can be found throughout the British Isles, but is more local in the north and in Scotland. Habitats are fens, wet grasslands, and marshes, occasionally drier habitats like calcareous grassland. The flight period is late June to September. Larvae feed on grasses. It can be disturbed by day, and comes to light. Earliest UK sighting: 14th July ; Latest UK sighting: 28th August Sightings
