Description

Family: Geometridae (ABH : 70.083)

Wing span: 24 - 30mm

This moth has several dark brown streaks or dashes near the fore-wing tip, another in the central band, and a dark bar near the trailing edge.

It is a recent colonist, first being recorded in West Sussex in 1984. It has spread northwards into the Midlands and East Anglia.

Habitats are parklands and gardens.

There are two generations, late May to July, and late September to late November. It over-winters as a larva.

Larvae feed on Monterey Cypress and other cypresses.

It comes to light. It can be found resting on the food-plant at night.
