Description

Family: Geometridae (ABH : 70.235)

Wing span: 34 - 42mm

This species is distinguished be a dark purplish-grey shading between the outer cross-line and the outer edge of the wing.

It is common in England and Wales, but not present in Scotland or Ireland.

It can be found in most places that Ash grows, including woods, hedgerows, gardens and urban centres.

There is one generation per year, from late July to early October. It over-winters as an egg.

The larvae feed on Ash and probably also Privet.

It comes to light, but is otherwise seldom seen.
