Description

Family: Noctuidae (ABH : 73.219)

Wing span: 30 - 36mm

This moth has a broad, slightly hooked forewing, orange-yellow with a broad but incomplete pinkish-red or pinkish-brown central band. The forewing trailing edge is the same colour.

It can be found throughout the British Isles, but is local in parts of Scotland and Ireland.

Habitats are broad-leaved woodland and more open places with isolated Ash trees, including park and gardens.

There is one generation in August and September. It over-winters as an egg.

Larvae feed on the unopened buds and flowers of mature Ash.

It comes to light in small numbers.
