Description

Family: Nolidae (ABH : 74.002)

Wing span: 20 - 22mm

The ground colour of the fore-wing is white, and it appears smooth due to soft tawny-brown or grey-brown markings.

It is well distributed on the English coast from the south-west to Norfolk and Spurn Head. It is also found inland in central southern England. It is a suspected immigrant.

Habitats are coastal heathlands, saltmarshes, shingle and sandy beaches. Inland it is found on chalk downland and open areas in woodland.

There is one generation per year, from late June to early August.

Larvae feed on Dewberry, Bramble, Raspberry and Wild Strawberry.

It comes to light.
