Click image for larger version. © David Hastings) Description L: 13 - 15 cm (incl. tail) The Long-tailed Tit is easily recognisable with its distinctive colouring, a tail that is longer than its body, a squeaky call and undulating flight. It is found throughout the British Isles with the exception of the Scottish highlands. It breeds in deciduous and mixed woodland with rich undergrowth. Long-tailed Tits are usually seen in small family parties which move quickly though woods and gardens. There are around 340000 breeding territories in the UK.
