Starlings (Sturnidae)
Species
Starlings are small to medium-sized birds that walk well with a rather waddling gait. They are aggressive, adaptable and curious. They have longish legs and bills, and many have short tails, creating a distinctive flight silhouette. Many species have a metallic sheen on their plumage. Most are highly gregarious outside the breeding season and form large roosting flocks.

There are 111 species worldwide, all in the Old World. Three species breed in Europe.
