Accentors (Prunellidae)
Species
Accentors are small, dull-coloured birds that spend much of their time on the ground. They characteristically adopt a horizontal posture and hop rather than walk, frequently flicking their wings. They have short, thin bills, unlike the majority of ground-feeding birds which are seed-eaters and thus have thick, chunky bills. Most species are found at high altitude.

There are twelve species worldwide in the temperate Palearctic. Two species breed in Europe.
