(© David Hastings) (1/250th sec at f10) DescriptionL: 19 - 21 cm The Lesser Grey Shrike is slightly smaller than, but otherwise similar to, the Great Grey Shrike. Adult males have a peach or salmon-pink breast. It is a summer visitor to south-eastern Europe. It breeds locally on the Mediterranean coasts of Spain and France eastwards through Italy and the Balkans. It winters in southwest Africa. It is a scarce vagrant to western Europe. It breeds in open terrain with cultivations, orchards, and scattered trees and groves. Lesser Grey Shrikes are often seen scanning from telephone wires. Sightings
