Click image for larger version) DescriptionL 15 - 17cm; WS 22.5 - 28 cm The Water Pipit is a large, stocky pipit. It is greyish-brown above and pale below, with streaks on its breast. It has a pale stripe over its eye, a slender bill and dark legs. It breeds in the Alps and other mountains of central and southern Europe. It is a winter visitor to the British Isles, mostly around the coasts. Its feeding habitat is damp grassland. Birds normally forage alone or in pairs. It is regarded as of Least Concern by the IUCN.
